This is a trap that I found myself in. It meant that my well-being would be dictated by the response of students. If they failed to respond to me as their wise teacher, it could trigger mental turmoil. They might as well have punched me in the face.
It was only by realizing that concepts like teacher and student have no intrinsic existence (both are empty) that I could escape that trap. For me, the idea of saving people is an arrogant fantasy. So, why do I still teach? It's like falling in love, there is an urge to talk about it.
"No teaching, no teacher" because there is no student. The voice in our heads isn't even of our own making. So then how can there be a false creation, if there's no one separate to create it? Genuinely curious
You're pointing at a real tension, and it's worth taking seriously. In the absolute sense, there's no one to create falsely any more than there's a student to be taught. But "false" here is a relative term. It's relative to the dream's own internal logic. Within the dream, some expressions move toward lucidity and some move away from it, and the dream itself seems to have an orientation, a kind of gravitational pull, first toward forgetting, then toward remembering. The "ego wearing a halo" is just the dream still in the midst of forgetting, still convinced it's the dreamer. What dissolves it is recognition, the dream beginning to remember. Neither is finally "wrong," but from inside the process, we might say one opens and the other closes. The post here is describing something inside the process, where the distinction still matters, even if from the absolute view there's no one it's happening to.
“Humility is an orientation not a virtue”
YES🙏
